Meaningful places, beloved landscapes, quiet nature, and personal scenes painted in my expressive modern representational style.

I take on a limited number of custom paintings each year when the subject feels like a natural fit for my work. Every commission is created as a one-of-a-kind original painting—not a print or reproduction.

Availability & Commission Schedule

My larger custom painting schedule for 2026 is now fully booked.

I am currently accepting a limited number of small-format commissions for September and October. I also take a limited number of these smaller commissions throughout the year, as my schedule allows.

Available small commission sizes

• 8 × 8 inches — $275

• 8 × 10 inches — $325

• 9 ×12 inches — $370

These commissions are ideal for landscapes, birds, wildlife, flowers, gardens, and other subjects that complement my expressive painting style. I will also accept request to paint similar pieces that have sold.

To reserve a commission, send me your idea and reference photos. Once we have agreed on the subject and size, I will create a listing for you in my online gallery. Payment for the full commission is due upfront to secure your place on my schedule.

My commission schedule is closed during November and December while I focus on holiday collections, print production, and year-end orders.

I will be accepting larger commissions again December 15th for my 2027 schedule.

Is a Commission a Good Fit?

A custom painting may be a good fit if you love my painterly style and want something inspired by a place, memory, or subject—rather than an exact copy of a photograph.

I work from reference photos, but I interpret them through color, composition, brushwork, and feeling. The finished painting will reflect my artistic style while capturing the spirit of your subject.

My commissions are best suited for:

• Landscapes

• Fields, barns, cottages, and quiet places

• Water, marshes, lakes, and natural views

• Meaningful places from everyday life

Materials & Presentation

Custom paintings are created on professional canvas or panel surfaces—never paper.

Available surfaces include 1.5-inch deep linen canvas, Ampersand flat panel, or cradled wood panel. We'll discuss the best surface based on the size, subject, and display preferences for your painting.

I work with standard professional canvas and panel sizes and do not build custom-sized canvases. If your requested dimensions don't correspond to a standard size, I'll recommend the closest size that best suits the composition.

Most larger commissions are created on 1.5-inch deep linen canvas with painted edges, a protective varnish, my signature, and arrive ready to hang.

All paintings are created using professional acrylic paints and archival materials.

Prices are starting points and may vary depending on subject, complexity, materials, and timeline.

Local pickup may also be arranged. Additional shipping charges may apply for Alaska, Hawaii, and international orders.

How It Works

To begin, send a few reference photos along with your preferred size, subject, colors, or reference one of my existing paintings.

If the project feels like a good fit, we'll discuss the size, painting surface, timeline, and overall direction before I provide a final quote.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your commission and begin the painting.

Deposits may be made through Venmo.

The remaining balance is due when the painting is complete, before shipping or local pickup.

Artwork will not be shipped or released until final payment has been received.

Payment plans may be available for larger commissions upon request.

Copyright

The purchase of a commissioned painting transfers ownership of the original artwork only.

Copyright and all reproduction rights remain with the artist, Kelly Brown. This includes the right to photograph the artwork and use its image for my portfolio, website, social media, exhibitions, marketing, prints, greeting cards, calendars, licensing, and other reproductions.

The client may display the original artwork but may not reproduce, scan, copy, distribute, or commercially use the image without the artist's prior written permission.
